Howdy!

Welcome to my space. I am a lover of words, maker of jokes and writer of books.

I spent 2023 exploring Australia in a van with my little family, performing solo comedy shows in pubs and clubs and on cattle stations. Last year, my book, ‘Shoulda Been Higher: A Celebration of Triple J’s Hottest 100’, officially launched, and since then I’ve been in book stores, at comedy gigs, on the radio, on The Betoota Advocate Podcast. My smiling mug even popped up on ABC News Breakfast. Life right now looks a bit like this:

Shoulda Been Higher

The definitive book about the Hottest 100 is out now. It’s received love from Paul Dempsey, Odette, Alex Dyson and even Ben from the Dymocks store in Canberra. You can get a signed and personalised copy here.

Stand Up Comedy & Events

I have performed stand up comedy all over Australia, from Sydney to Perth and everywhere in between. Need a comedian, corporate MC or trivia host? I’m your fella.

Freelance Writing

I’m a pop culture columnist and music reviewer for the Sydney Morning Herald and a regular contributor to The Roar. Love to debate the important things in life - music, movies and sport.

  • "Excellent storyteller... keeping the audience on their toes with physicality and vocal surges."

    Hugging Comedians

  • "Music nerds will find this book a perfect primer for Hottest 100 time. Clarke finds many engaging and thought-provoking ways to slice this musical democracy sausage."

    Craig, Abbey's Book Store

  • "Stoked. The punters all had a good laugh and the beers flowed freely. Looking forward to having him back."

John Bennett, Owner of Mouse Proof Brewery Toowoomba

  • "Shoulda Been Higher is nostalgic, nerdy and deeply funny. It is somehow both chock-a-block with stats and completely fascinating."

    Geek Of Oz

  • "4.5 Stars - Tom captivates the audience with his storytelling abilities, vulnerability, and some impressive air kicks."

    Samantha Field, Mindshare

  • "His brain is a wonderland of what ifs and what was and every conceivable nuance of the most awesome music countdown in the cosmos."

Pete, Australian Rock and Roll Museum

  • "A sour turd."

Timothy, who didn't like my article slagging of "The Horses" by Daryl Braithwaite
